Franklin County Public Transportation provides service to Northern and Southern Franklin County
and certain employment stops in Plattsburgh, NY for your shopping, medical, employment, educational,
and miscellaneous needs. They are sponsored by the County of Franklin, Division of Public
Transportation and New York State Department of Transportation.
Franklin County Offers Many Services
Fixed Route service - is a bus service that travels along a route with identified stops and
associated times, and according to a weekly schedule.
Route Deviation - is a deviated service off a Fixed Route to accommodate any rider wishing to
avail themselves of the service. Route Deviation is a premium service and requires a premium
fare.
Demand Response Service - is a service that operates under a zone and provides curb to curb
service to outlying areas of the county. Reservations must be made no later then the end of
regular business hours of the day before the ride is needed at: 518-483-9000. Demand response
is available anywhere in a given zone on its service day and is a service which the rider-initiated
requests determine the exact route.
As Needed Service - is a stop that is scheduled into the run but will not always go to that location
if nobody requires it. The bus will stop at these locations with a 24 hour in advance notice by
calling 518-483-9000. See individual schedules for route locations.
Southern Franklin County
In the Southern part of Franklin County, bus service is provided within Saranac Lake, Tupper
Lake and into Lake Placid, located in Essex County, five days a week. Demand service in Saranac
Lake and Tupper Lake is only available Monday through Friday, 5:10 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. All
demand service and deviated pick-ups must be coordinated 24 hours in advance. Please see
the individual schedules in the "Documents" section for exact operational hours.
